Prajnaparamita

Surrendered heart

Prajnaparamita is an awakened teacher from the Netherlands. She has been in search of her true nature all her life. Initially investigating and studying psychology, religion and philosophy, she eventually met a truly awakened soul and surrendered her heart, her mind and her life. Prajnaparamita received a rich vista of non-dual teachings: Advaita Vedanta, Mahayana Buddhism, Zen and Ch’an.

Since her enlightenment, more than two decades ago, Prajnaparamita honored the assignment of her masters to  ‘spread the light all over the world.’ Unceasingly she is offering satsang and intensives, inspiring all who are longing to awaken to their inherent Buddha nature.

When the mind is stilled
and unwavering trust brings you to surrender
you will hear the language of silence
the wordless secret speaking loudly to you

What calls to a young girl to become a disciple?

What is the matter with a talented, passionate young woman who has no desire but in her deepest depths to be nobody? How can it be that nothing really makes her happy, in her life where everything is possible? She cannot conceive of how people can be content with relationships, possessions and success. She asks herself how it can be that nobody misses what she is missing. Diligently, she investigates religions and philosophies, knowing that there must be more than the world as she knows it.

The true life

One day someone directs her attention to ‘a man who offers gatherings from which you could benefit’. That same evening she goes to one. And it is this evening that she realises that she has been given access to the true life, the mystical life that she had been looking for so intensely and which she had so painfully missed. The man’s name is Alexander Smit and it is the early 1980s. Alexander came to freedom with his spiritual master Nisargadatta Maharaj in India, and he had just begun expressing his awakened realisation.

She absorbs the teachings insatiably. She says nothing, asks nothing and remembers nothing. She just takes everything in, week after week, month after month, year after year. She lets herself fall into the loving, stilling presence of her master. Gradually she gives up all sense of a separate ‘I’, and offers her heart, her mind and her life back to the totality of existence.

A spiritual guide

Over the years she meets non-dual gurus of diverse traditions. In the last years of her inner journey Poonjaji, and thereafter ShantiMayi are her masters. When she is at last ready to take on her task assigned to her by her masters, she steps into the ancient line of transmission as a spiritual guide.

Prajaparamita has been offering satsang and retreats worldwide for twenty years. She has a ‘Centre for Awakening and Natural Living’ in France, where she resides for most of the year and where she offers guidance to anyone with an intense longing to realise freedom.
